Gyeongbokgung (경복궁)
October 2009 28 |
Of all the palaces in Seoul, Gyeongbokgung is the most visited and the most spectacular. Gyeongbokgung was the first palace built when the capital was moved to Seoul about 700 years ago, but had been used only briefly after that - for the longest time in Korean history, Changdeokgung was the abode of the king. Nevertheless, a lot of buildings are preserved in Gyeongbokgung, and also some scenes from royal life are re-enacted, such as changing of the guard. It is always crammed full of people, Korean and foreign.
