Changdeokgung is one of five royal palaces in the center of Seoul. It is the best kept, and is a Unesco world heritage site. It is not the oldest palace, but it has been built only a few years after Gyeongbokgung, and was used for the longest time as royal residence. For this reason it has the largest number of buildings and other features. Much of it was lost during the Japanese reign. You can visit this palace only on an organised tour, and there are only three English language tours per day. (There is one day on which they allow you to roam the palace grounds freely, but for a horrendous charge. I would have done it, though, had I planned to be in Seoul on that particular day of the week.)
