Dongdaemun (동대문)

Two of the main city gates of old Seoul are still standing, the "Southern" and "Eastern" gates, Namdaemun and Dongdaemun. Namdaemun, however, has been the victim of a recent arson attack, and is currently undergoing reconstruction; it is covered by a scaffolding. Dongdaemun is still visible. Both gates are at heavily congested road intersections, and are near the two major street markets of Seoul, the Namdaemun and Dongdaemun markets.
