Namsangol is an area to the North of Mt. Namsan, where a couple of traditional Korean houses (hanok) have been re-assembled after being removed to make room for more modern construction. Namsangol is also the site of another attempt at preserving the past: in the grounds of the park, a time capsule has been built in the 1990s, which is supposed to be opened after precisely 400 years. This time capsule should preserve items of everyday Korean life. Unfortunately, however, it is already outdated: there are neither mobile phones nor any internet devices in the capsule
