Desert Camp

Near the entrance to Sossusvlei is Desert Camp, a group of semicanvas buildings designed for self-caterers. Each building was erected as a kind of tent on a concrete foundation and was equipped with a little kitchen outside and a barbecue place. There was a central building with a pool (ice cold) but no restaurant or similar.

Desert Camp belonged to Desert Lodge nearby (not to be confused with the Namib Desert Lodge), which was a real lodge with restaurant and all, and consisted of similarly build places but with a bit more space and luxury. Both sites are very nicely done but very cold in the Namibian winter night. In addition, the wind was howling around the structures and rattling at all the windows.

How are Namibian firecars painted?

Near Desert Camp, there was Desert Lodge, similarly built but with more luxury. In the lodge, this firecar was parked.
