Eiffel Tower

The most famous landmark of Paris, of course, is the Eiffel Tower. It is located at the Seine end of the Mars field. It is an impressive structure, and it was a major engineering feat when it was built. It is possible to access the tower from the pillars and ascend up to the little plaform that you can see about 2/3 to the top.

However, the queues were incredibly long and I didn't want to wait for an hour or more in a queue (it was Sunday) so I decided not to go up. There are elevators and staircases in each pillar, but normally in two pillars only the elevators are open, in another one the stairs and the fourth one is closed. The stairs had a shorter queue but it still was too long.
