The centre of Paris are two islands in the Seine, the Île the la Cité and the Île St-Louis. The old town is opposite the isles on the right bank of the city. In the Asterix cartoons, Lutetia is sometimes drawn as an island, and this would be the Île de la Cité. It's a very touristy area.
