The last of the major festivals during our stay on Malta was the annual Birgufest, the festival of the city of Birgu. Birgu, also called Vittoriosa, and also the "city of knights", is one of the thee fortified cities which form the so-called Cottonera (Cospicua, Birgu and Senglea) on the southern side of Grand Harbour. It had been the capital of Malta under the knights of St. John until the foundation of Valletta. It's general appearance is that of a Mini-Valletta.
