Cabo de Gata is the cape at the southeastern corner of Spain, where the south coast turns into the east coast. The whole area is very dry (they shot Italo-Westerns farther inland), but near the actual cape there are salt marshes. A natural park has been declared in this area and the salt marshes are home to many birds (temporarily - a lot of the birds are migratory). It is also a popular summer holiday destination
