For decades, the blue mountains plateau to the west of Sydney blocked the settler's move westward, until finally passages through the mountains were found which were usable with carts. The area now is a local recreation area for Sydney, aswarm with holidaymakers over weekends and holiday seasons. Local tourism is the predominant industry. There are scenic views, waterfalls and jungle. The "Three sisters" are a famous rock formation - but we were there during heavy fog and could not see them
