Besides coffee beans, meat is also grown on the plantation - I believe more for the personal use of the family than for sale. The plantation owner must be comparably wealthy - poor people only have chicken. But only really rich people keep cattle. An advantage of pigs is that they can eat the washed-off (and dried) coffee cherries.
