This is Indra, king of the gods, riding the three-headed elephant Erawan (Airavata in Sanskrit). Actually Erawan has 33 heads but it is generally accepted that sculptors depict him with three heads only, since it is rather difficult to scuplt 33 heads onto one Elephant.
