View from the Patuxai to a somewhat southerly direction. You can see the Mekong and the tallest building in all of Laos, a Malaysian luxury hotel on Don Det island in the Mekong. Don Det is more of a sand bar and when the river runs low it is not really separate from the river bank. The patch of land on the other side of the Mekong is called "Thailand".
