Ko Pha Ngan actually has some nice landscape. It is similar in size to Ko Samui but much less populated and, more important, much less commercialised. Though there is new development everywhere, it happens on a different scale. The island is now addressing in addition to backpackers those people who have been backpackers 20 years ago. It's a different crowd from that on Ko Samui.
